Senior Adults

A group of nine smiling people, mostly senior women, sitting at a long wooden table in a restaurant booth, posing for a photo during their meal.
An older man in a grey shirt laughs as he playfully punches another man on the back of the head. They are outdoors in a parking lot with cars behind them.
A large group of people, mostly seniors, eating and socializing at long picnic tables with orange tablecloths under a covered outdoor pavilion.
Three older men stand talking in a room with rows of white folding chairs. Two wear jackets and one wears a purple shirt. Other people are in the background.

The Joy Group is Gate City’s Senior Adult Ministry and is for those who are age 55 and over. The goal of this ministry is to meet the social and spiritual needs of our seniors. In addition to a bi-monthly senior adult men’s breakfast (ROMEO–Retired Old Men Eating Out), there are monthly activity and ministry opportunities for senior adults.

Each Wednesday morning at 10 AM, we offer a Bible study for seniors, led by our Pastor, called The Morning Lift.

The Joy Group provides opportunities not simply for fellowship but for ministry and service. On a monthly basis, teams prepare and deliver meals to the homebound. We have a monthly nursing-home ministry partnership where teams of seniors visit and sing to patients. In addition, there is a group called the Sew-N-Sews who make gift/care items for seniors with physical needs.

Senior adults are a valued part of the fellowship, ministry and service of Gate City.
